The ancients built Valdrada on the shores of a lake with houses
all with galleries one above the other and high streets that overlook the water
with the balustrade parapets. Thus, the traveler sees upon arrival two cities,
one directly on the lake and one of inverted reflection. There is no
occurrence in one Valdrada that the other Valdrada does not repeat, because
the city was built in such a way that each of its points
was reflected in its mirror, and the Valdrada of the water, below, contains not
only all the channels and reliefs of the facades that rise
above the lake, but also the interior of the rooms with their
ceiling and flooring, the perspectives of their corridors,
the mirrors of their wardrobes.

Los antiguos construyeron Valdrada a orillas de un lago con casas
todas de galerías una sobre otra y calles altas que asoman al agua

sólo todas las canaladuras y relieves de las fachadas que se elevan
sobre el lago, sino también el interior de las habitaciones con sus
cielos rasos y sus pavimentos, las perspectivas de sus corredores,
los espejos de sus armarios.”
