Amazing colonial house in San Roman, Campeche.
Meticulously restored House built during the 18th and 19th centuries, maintaining the original integrity and spirit, while modernizing the infrastructure. The property is 240 square meters, with a huge roof terrace and stunning sunset views over the gulf, which is 100 meters away and a one minute walk to the beautiful Malecon.
The house features original French terracotta floors, as well as the original wooden beams and doors. Both natural light and ventilation were priorities during the restoration. Soaring 5-meter-high ceilings keep the house cool, but every room has floor-to-ceiling windows, ceiling fans, and air conditioning for those hot summer days. State-of-the-art solar panels ensure very low electricity costs. Doors and windows leading to the patio were made of glass and hand-forged steel to replace the originals and have built-in security grills and mosquito nets. The terrace with columns and arches, a floor covered with local shell stone, a plunge pool, with an automatic filtration system, and a fountain. All lighting in the house is vintage and installed with dimming systems to create the ambiance you desire. Water is stored in an underground cistern to avoid an unsightly roof tank and is filtered through a water softening system and then pressurized, where it is pumped to electric tankless water heaters throughout the house. This therefore allows for endless hot water while conserving precious energy and contributing to planet-friendly conservation.
